Uh, we're talking about Steve Sampson here. There are reasons why he is one of the most hated men in American soccer. Does no one remember the surprise/outrage expressed almost unanimously when he was hired? Well said, Belly.

It was about time. I've been mystified he ever got hired after the way his months-long panic attack destroyed the 1998 USMNT World Cup effort, a collapse that screwed up our WC seeding again this year. Here's hoping he finds another line of work soon

I have to agree, it was time for Steve Sampson to go. For the record, LA has looked of crap all year, even with Donovan in the lineup (he played in the first 2 games of their current losing streak, plus he was on the pitch when they fell to a horrible Crew team at home on April 22nd).

Plus, as you said here and in the past, the 2005 Galaxy had pure luck going their way (plus Donovan had something to prove).

Anyway, Sampson did get about a year thanks to the domestic double, and that year was from mid-2005 till this week as he would have been fired in the off season if it was not for the trophies the club won. Actually, he probably would have been fired earlier if Chivas or Real were teams with a chance in 2005.

Finally, let us not forget the Sampson had an overall losing record during his time in LA.
